Chief Executive Officer
Vijay is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of operating, capital formation, corporate development, M&A and principal investing experience in the Americas and Asia. Vijay’s specific areas of expertise are in energy and financial services.
Vijay founded Stellar Renewable Power (“Stellar”), which is a majority-owned portfolio company of Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts (KKR), where he currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Board Member. Stellar is entrusted with a mandate to build a global multi gigawatt scale portfolio of development /operating renewable energy assets.
Prior to founding Stellar, Vijay was Group CFO of SBEnergy Global, the renewable energy subsidiary of SoftBank Group, with operations in India and the United States. As a founding management team member of SBE since 2015, Vijay helped lead the business to a global leadership position in renewables, developing over 5GW of utility scale solar capacity in India and ~2GW in the United States.
Before SBEnergy, Vijay led Corporate Development, M&A, and Project Finance for SunEdison Inc, in which role he raised significant amounts of capital for solar and wind energy developments in the Asia Pacific region, including India and Australia.
Prior to SunEdison, he was a Managing Director at Kilowatt Financial LLC, a Kleiner Perkins portfolio company focused on residential solar finance in the United States. Vijay started his finance career in New York, where he was a Director at UBS Investment Bank’s Financial Institutions practice, and before that, a senior associate at Citigroup’s Corporate and Investment Bank. Vijay started his professional career with strategy firm Booz Allen & Hamilton where he spent three years as a consultant.
Vijay holds a BE in Engineering from the University of Madras, and an MBA from Cornell University.
